CONCERT REVIEW: DC WEEK at 930 Club // NOV 4

Sara Moline; Metro Business Media:
November 7, 2011 – This past Friday night, crowds gathered at D.C.’s renowned 9:30 Club for the kickoff of this year’s Digital Capital Week (DCWeek)—a week-long series of events focused on the creative technological community. A mix of young entrepreneurs and D.C., Maryland and Virginia locals came out to celebrate and support up-and-coming bands from the all over the region. From 10:30 p.m. until 3:00 a.m., patrons mingled with old friends and new acquaintances. They bobbed their heads and danced the night away to the beats of bands such as The Silver Liners, Modern Man, and Drop Electric. Read more »

CONCERT REVIEW: RED PALACE // SEP 9

Julian Vu; Brightest Young Things:
September 12, 2011 - I came in during the middle of their set to find decent harmonies and killer hi-hat work. There was a fair amount of audience participation, particularly during the closer “She’s my American Girl.” While the sound is a bit reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, these guys certainly have their act together, and if nothing else, the bassist looked super happy to be playing, which from another bassist is enough for me to respect this band. CONCERT REVIEW: ROCK & ROLL HOTEL // AUG 13

Steve Bradley; The Washington Times:
August 22, 2011 – In the last year, the Silver Liners released their second EP. Their membership has changed slightly. A documentary film crew seems to be following them around. The band has clearly grown at least in terms of their personal scope.  However, they are still a five piece pop/rock band from the DC area and their set is still filled with tight danceable rock songs. One of the more unique things about the Silver Liners is even in their immediate infancy there was a certain kind of professionalism to the band, almost abnormally so. Despite none of the band members being much older than 25, they’ve always played with a clear goal in mind.  Read more »

CONCERT REVIEW: ROCK & ROLL HOTEL // AUG 13

David Hintz; DC Rock Live:
August 14, 2011 – This is my fifth time already and although it gets a little tiring trying to come up with new things to say about a band’s music, I am sure I will be back for shows number six, seven…. I recall thinking that the last show really was a step up for the band. Initially, they seemed to play awfully good and catchy rock music that had a mainstream appeal, but was interesting enough at the indie level. They then went on to prove that plenty of practice and regular gigging can work wonders for young bands. They now have a strong edge to their music and audiences can feel the comfort they have working with each other and delivering their quality tunes. And clubs are discovering this, too, as the band drew more than 100 people tonight. They have gone from playing to their friends to playing for a real fanbase. Read more »

REVIEW & PHOTOS: Vitaminwater Uncapped LIVE

Christopher Crowley & Alex Joseph; Brightest Young Things:
May 27, 2011
- The mainstage kicked off with a set by local up and comers The Silver Liners whose brand of pop-rock synth caught the attention of swooning foot-tappers. The group played through tracks from their new EP including “Just Like The Rest,” “Running Through my Head,” and “American Girl.” The Silver Liners melted pop-rock nostalgia spiced with big sound maturity for a pleasingly fun and catchy set. FEATURED BAND: THE SILVER LINERS

Steph; Tri-State Indie:
May 13, 2011 – The Silver Liners are a 5-piece rock/pop band from Washington, DC. They’ve been picking up stream in the DC area and in the northeast music press circuit in the last few months.  They were recently mentioned as one of the 8 DC bands to watch in 2011 by Deli Magazine. So we took a listen and liked what we heard too. Catchy pop rock that is done well and seems more mature in style and musicianship than lots of others in this genre that have come across our inbox these days. It’s instantly likable with songs that get stuck in your head at first listen. Read more »

CONCERT REVIEW: ROCK & ROLL HOTEL // MAY 6

David Hintz; DC Rock Live:
May 6, 2011 – Generally, I get a little tired of writing about bands from the fourth time on. This is the fourth time for me seeing this five-piece and to my surprise, I am happy to add another review. Basically, I think this is the best set I have seen from the band.  I have always found them a good quality band with nice pop rock hooks, but found just a little something lacking. Tonight, they had all their fine songs on display, but added a gutsy edge that brought them to a higher level. When bands have the songs and skills, it usually is a matter of time before the gigging and rehearsals move them to a higher plane. Read more »
